MGG NEW JERSEY: Environmental Action | Weekly Newsletter #6

MGG New Jersey

Updated: Mar 6

Welcome to Mission Green Global NJ's yearly newsletter! Our chapter is dedicated to building environmental consciousness, organizing successful events, and taking action to help save our local environments. We aim to educate our community and encourage sustainable practices. This newsletter will cover some of our latest events, introduce our leadership team, and provide an overview of climate issues affecting New Jersey.

Meet the Mission Green Global NJ Team

We’re thrilled to introduce the dedicated individuals leading our chapter!

  • Tanvi Kurupati – Chapter Lead

  • Chloe Lee – Director of Outreach

  • Vena Lee – Social Media Manager

These passionate environmental advocates work hard to spread awareness, engage the community, and lead sustainability efforts in NJ.

Seed Bomb Workshop at Local Library

One of our most exciting activities this year was a Seed Bomb Workshop in our local library. This hands-on activity had participants create seed bombs using local wildflower seeds and environmentally friendly material. The purpose was to promote biodiversity by the dispersal of these seed bombs in neglected green spaces. The workshop was a great way of engaging individuals of all ages in a fun and easy environmental activity!

Environmental News in New Jersey

New Jersey has been at the forefront of many climate initiatives, including offshore wind and reducing plastic waste. However, dangers such as coastal erosion and pollution persist. Recent studies have shown that restoring wetlands is the solution to combating flooding and preserving biodiversity in our state. As citizens, knowing about these problems is the first step toward making change a reality.

How You Can Give Back to the Environment

Here are some simple acitos you can take to make a difference:

  • Reduce Single-Use Plastics: Carry a reusable water bottle and shopping bag to cut down on plastic waste.

  • Support Local Conservation Efforts: Participate in clean-up events and tree-planting initiatives.

  • Practice Sustainable Gardening: Use native plants and avoid harmful pesticides to support local pollinators.

  • Educate and Advocate: Spread awareness about environmental issues and encourage others to adopt sustainable habits.
