MGG hosted Operation: Dark Skies! We welcomed an amazing crowd of all ages who came together to learn how we can protect our dark skies. From powerful guest speakers to engaging and educational displays at their booths, the night was filled with inspiration, learning, and community.

MGG picked up litter today at the Metroparks!
Wellington Harbour and other surrounding beaches like Oriental bay, face significant pollution from waste, litter, and run-off. Wildlife including fish, and birds are prone to getting sick from eating these plastics resulting in deaths and and risk of getting tangled in plastic. Recognizing this huge risk to Wellington's biodiversity, our New Zealand chapter teamed up with local organizations and recruited volunteers to clean the beach and collect over 5 gallons of trash!

Preserving the beauty of Athens' mountains was an issue our Greece Chapter identified and aimed to solve for MGG Day. As part of the nature walk, trash was collected and the leadership team organized a talk about several environmental topics, such as noise pollution and identifying native flowers and herbs.

Thanks to the Queens Library, we were able to collect over 800 books this week and donate them through our book drive with the support of Better World Books. We’re proud to help promote literacy and sustainability through this effort.

We cleaned up a shortcut, with the help of local kids and neighbors. We took the global term literally this time - it went beyond borders since this site was way far from our town - and that’s where the beauty stands.

We organized a very successful beach cleanup @ Lake Erie! We had a lot of fun and picked up a lot of trash (and fish).
We organized a very successful beach cleanup @ Lake Erie! We had a lot of fun and picked up a lot of trash (and fish).
We successfully hosted a creative and eco-friendly Trash to Treasure Workshop, transforming waste into art! During this hands-on event, participants gathered and repurposed old paper and carton, mixing them with glue to create a clay-like dough. This sustainable material was then used to sculpt unique artistic pieces, inspiring creativity while promoting recycling. In addition to sculpting, we crafted beautiful decorations from upcycled materials, giving discarded items a second life.

They planned a fair-style event featuring an eco swap booth for trading plastic items, a DIY reusable bag station using old shirts, and an art corner showcasing student work made from waste materials. They also led a debate where students discussed environmental topics!
