Ages: 9-13, 14-17

 

Submission Criteria & Rules Specific to Challenge: 

 

This category involves creating your own technological innovation (engineering, architecture, science experiment, AI, etc) that solves an environmental challenge of your choice. Your technological innovation can be in the form of an app, a research paper, a prototype, a design drawing, and more, as long as it follows a STEM pursuit. Your technological innovation must be original in idea and work.

In addition to the environmental statement, you must make sure your submission highlights how your ENVention works. This can be through another written statement included with your submission or in the form of a video along with your submission. We would encourage you to include this second statement along with your ENVention in a single document/file in text/speech/video format.

If you choose to submit a design, you must, along with the design, label parts of your invention and detail how the design works.

Feel free to cater your submission to the type. For example, if building an app, you might want to send a screen recording of how your app works. For a prototype, you might want to send a video with an explanation of how your ENVention works.

Grading Categories (5): 

• Originality (How unique is the take?)

• Creativity (How creative is the concept?)

• Feasibility (How much is the possibility this could actually be built?)

• Effectiveness (How effective the idea is in solving the problem?)

• Expression of Ideas (How clear are your ideas?)
